June, 2007:
* A busy time, with lots to mention: This
month I'm showing at the Fremont 1st Friday Art Walk at FrameUp Studios.
It's up now through the end of June. We just returned from a 5-day trip
to the WA/OR coast (along with 20 rolls of beach pictures), and I am
starting to prep for Photolucida's mini northwest
review in Portland last weekend in July. This will be a good introduction
to a lot of professionals in the NW art community. Images from my newest
trip will be trickling onto the website between now and then, as I get
them all scanned and cleaned up, I promise! June is the month of the
final push to finish our photo studio, M-squared, in Georgetown. We
are planning on a photographer's open house the weekend of June 28/29
for anyone interesting in renting the space. Also upcoming, as an extenion
of the Georgetown 2nd Saturday Art Attack, will be an open studio sale/exhibit
for myself and a bunch of other artists (probably a few other artists
from Artech as well); I will be showcasing new work from the shoreline
series with prints available for review/purchase. Stay tuned for more
photos/news in the next few weeks...
January 29, 2007:
* Opening reception Feb. 7 at the Globe
Gallery in Pioneer Square, 6-8 pm. Part of First Thursday art walk.
Gallery is at 105 S. Main St, #100 (next door to Elliott Bay book store).
Show runs through April 1. Solo exhibit of "Shoreline" series.
November 1, 2007:
* Show
announcements: My first solo show opens Nov. 16 at Moses Lake Museum
and Art Gallery in central Washington. I'll be exhibiting various landscape
images including several new beach images. Runs through New Years.
September 6, 2007:
* As
of September, I am the proud tenant of a beautiful photo studio in the
Georgetown industrial area. We're busy patching, priming and painting
walls and floor along with other cosmetic work. Studio party to be announced,
probably the first week of October (save the date!), food, live music,
etc. In other news, I have uploaded a new series of work from a recent
trip to the Oregon coast. I will be continuing this series through the
fall - more images to come!
June 2, 2007:
* I've started
working on a new series, "Americana." While somewhat similar
to the Memories series, it has more stripped-down, graphic images, with
more saturated color. I'll be exploring nuances of blur and really focusing
on the use of negative space. Print sizes will be much larger - at least
23"x23" but possibly as large as 40" square. For the
moment, you can find them in new work. I haven't shown these to many
people, so I welcome any comments: [comment]
April 2007:
* My first
publication: Renascent: Photography - Volume 3. Seven images inside
plus the cover! Order from: Amazon
or Compass
Marketplace.
* I have been invited
to Center's Review Santa Fe: The country's only juried photo review.
January 2007:
* I'll be
a featured member of Shelter: Inside and Out at the
Columbia City Gallery.
Opening is Saturday, January 20, from 5-8 pm. Come visit!
* I have been selected
as one of the 150 finalists of Photolucida's Critical
Mass. Even if I don't win a published monograph, 200 critics, curators,
and gallery owners will be seeing my work and voting. What great exposure!
December
2006:
* Work on
display at Aria Salon on 11th and Pike in Capital Hill
through mid-January. This is in conjunction with Capital Hill Art Walk,
on Dec. 12 (2nd Tuesday). Their website: ariasalon.com.
* I am among 100 entries to be published
in Visual Codec's "One Shot 2006" flipbook
to be published in January 2007. This is an illustrious crowd of artists
in all mediums in the pacific NW region. I'm honored (and a little surprised!)
to be included. Check out their online magazine: visualcodec.com
* It's time for the Photographic Center NW's
member juried show, Dec. 1 through Jan. 15. I am pleased to be among
31 exhibitors, juried by Scott Wallin, the director or exhibitions at
the Whatcom Museum of History & Art in Bellingham, WA. Check out
the other beautiful work: pcnw.org
* I was selected to be part of the "Apples to Zinfandel
- Aberdeen to Zillah" show at the Washington State Convention
& Trade Center, which celebrates Washington state's agriculture.
Lots of time to see it, as it will run Dec. 2006 through August 2007.
I guess they wanted it to remain up for a national agricultural summit/convention
next year. No images, but here is their link: wsctc.com
- my "120" landscape will be included.
