Tara McDermott spent her formative years in Long Island, NY. Thirteen years after failing her initial quest to become a ceramic engineer, and following a short jaunt to Maryland, she landed in Seattle. After 5 years working for corporate America (at an esoteric job which defies easy catagorization), she decided to try her luck at school for the second time. Overseas travel to remote and exotic Asian locales gave her the desire to explore a more formal photographic education which resulted in a BFA in Photography from the University of Washington.

She is particularly fond of her Hasselblad camera, but also enjoys using the pinholes she has collected. She also adores road trips, as they provide endless opportunities for the serendipitous photo op. Since graduating, she has been a studio manager for a nationally-acclaimed studio photographer. Currently, she is the operations dispatch for a fine art installation, storage, and transportation company.

When not doing photography, Tara can be found strolling with her dog, with whom she enjoys long, one-sided conversations; or curled up with the latest science fiction book, of which there are just not enough!
